Our names are Maggie and Audrey! We loved Minneapolis Sailing Camp at Bde Mka Ska!
On the first day it was warm with cold raindrops and low wind. We went for a sail with the 5 kids and 2 counselors in the Junior Explorers class. We got to help steer with the rudder. We drew pictures of our dream boats! We learned how to steer in 1 direction—point the rudder handle in the opposite direction. We learned words like boom, main sail, jib, and rudder.
On Day 2 we got to go swimming because it was warm, but too windy for sailing. We went for a treasure hunt to the special buoy to swim. We jumped off the boat and it was a little cold when you're first in, but it warmed up! We sun bathed on the boat after!
The rest of the days we didn't swim, but we sailed a lot and learned more about the sailboat.
We got to try to catch fish and other things in the lake. On the last day we got ice cream! We had so much fun at camp!!
