Nathan’s Herb Stand

Nathan Shafer (43/4) of Lowry Hill at his herb stand.

Nathan, how old are you?
4 and 3 quarters

Why did you want to open the herb stand?
I wanted a remote control car and needed to make some money to buy it.

When are you open?
Most sundays before dinner. Unless I’m busy doing legos or swimming at the pool.

What amenities does your herb stand offer?
A water bowl for dogs, some shade when I get my umbrella out, and free samples of my herbs and you can park on the street and sometimes my mom offers wine to my customers.

What is your favorite herb that you’re growing and selling?
The purple thai basil.

Why?
I don’t know.

What do you sell the most of?
Mint, but thai basil is pretty close.

Which herb smells the best?
Mint!

Do any of them smell yucky?
They all smell medium except the mint. Mint smells the goodest.

What’s the typical pricing for your herbs?
I have a price sheet that I can show you. (upon inspecting price sheet it appears that everything is either 1, 2, or 3 dollars)

How many customers in the neighborhood have you served?
Hmm... Carol, kristi, betsy audrey and maggie beck, suzi, bethani, ellie, janet, alex swalling, owen ha. And a lot of them come back every Sunday.

What do you like most about doing your herb stand?
I like putting the money in my piggy bank so that I can save money to buy a remote control car.

Will you be open during the super sale on September 9th from 9am- 3pm?
Is that a Sunday? (no, it’s a Saturday) no, I’m only open on Sundays.

How are you thinking about growing your customer base?
I’m going to launch a stomp rocket with a sign on it that says, “nathan’s herbs” and kids can follow the rocket and find me.
