LOTI Pencil Sharpening Celebration

The LOTI Pencil Sharpening Celebration brings the Minneapolis community together each year to celebrate the iconic Lake of the Isles pencil sculpture.

Thousands gathered at Lake of the Isles on June 6th for the annual sharpening of the iconic giant pencil, proving once again that in Minneapolis, even the quirkiest traditions have a point. Local residents and visitors alike celebrated creativity, community and a beloved landmark with plenty of smiles—and freshly sharpened wit.

This annual event that takes place during the first part of June. For information on next year’s sixth annual sharpening, go to – lotipencil.com or follow along at @lotipencil.
